Lucinda has had a life long passion for helping people. As a teenager, she was a nurse's aide in nursing homes. At the University of Delaware, she earned a BS and MS in Nursing and became a rehab specialist, coordinating the care of people with catastrophic injuries. When the family moved to Maryland, Lucinda worked for 22 years at Calvary UMC in Mt Airy as the staff person for Healing prayer, Celebrate Recovery, Adult Education and the Fitness program. She developed innovative programs such as What Weighs You Down and Helping Families Heal for families and friends with loved ones in addiction. Lucinda lives on a small farm with her husband. They have 3 adult children and one beloved grandson. She is a NETA certified fitness instructor and a UMC certified lay speaker.
In 2011 Lucinda and her husband Ken attended a Christian Healing Ministries conference. While in a healing prayer session she experienced the personal presence of Jesus in a way like never before. Lucinda discovered that Jesus still heals and delivers people today. With a small group of friends, she began to take/teach classes in healing prayer, using materials from Christian Healing Ministries in Jacksonville, Florida. Over 250 people have now taken healing prayer level 1; some becoming healing prayer ministers. For 6 years she coordinated the healing prayer ministry at Calvary offering private healing prayer appointments, deliverance sessions, healing prayer classes and a weekly healing service.
In 2011 Lucinda began the training for leadership in a 12 step Christ centered recovery program called Celebrate Recovery. This internationally known ministry, originating from Saddleback Church, helps people find freedom from life's hurts, hang-ups and habits. The program launched at Calvary UMC in 2012. Lucinda ran the newcomers class, trained new leaders and led step-study groups. She has found personal freedom by working the 12 steps and has given her testimony many times.
Lucinda has witnessed countless changed lives as people encounter the light and love of Jesus. She seeks to learn and grow in both spiritual and community-based settings, completing the Recovery Coach Academy at Frederick County Health Department in 2017 and leading various bible studies and Christ centered programs throughout the year. It is her hope and prayer that Listen Love Pray Foundation will continue to work in recovery centers, churches, and the community so that people can experience healing, restoration, and the fullness of life that God offers.
